Manufacturing Process Engineer

SUMMARY:
The Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and optimizing forming and welding fabrication processes for highly engineered custom-made stainless-steel equipment. This position will support production teams by designing efficient workflows, implementing new technologies, creating tooling/fixtures, and ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process Development and Improvement
- Design, develop and refine welding and fabrication processes
- Analyze current operations to identify improvements
- Work closely with Director of Operations to implement LEAN manufacturing practices
- Tooling, Equipment, and Machining
- Evaluate and recommend equipment, tooling, machining, technology, etc. to improve fabrication capabilities
- Design and implement jigs / fixtures needed to support fabrication and assembly
- Commission new machines into current fabrication flow
- Production Support
- Provide technical guidance, training, and troubleshooting support
- Collaborate with fabrication, quality, project management and engineering teams to resolve problems quickly
- Create work instructions, SOPs, and training materials
- Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering team to ensure manufacturability and clarity/accuracy of work instructions and travelers for custom gloveboxes
- Review customer drawings / specifications and provide input / suggestions
- Help manage change requests and document change requests
- Work closely with Quality team to ensure conformity of customer requirements and specifications
- Ensure compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and customer requirements
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for fabrication
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably in a customer fabrication environment.
- Certification in LEAN / Six Sigma is a plus.
- Experience with CAD software
- Working knowledge of processes such as welding, machining, cutting, bending, and forming
- Experience implementing cobots/robotics in manufacturing is desirable
- Experience with ERP systems
- Familiarity with GD&T, tolerancing, and design for manufacturability principles
SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Strong problem solving / analytical skills
- Knowledge of LEAN, Kaizen, Six Sigma or similar methodologies
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and interpret requirements listed on purchase orders, flow downs, customer contracts or internal documents.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

SALARY RANGE: $115,000-$140,000 per year
