Senior Accountant

**MUST BE A US CITIZEN

SUMMARY: 

The Senior Accountant at this project-based equipment manufacturer has a pivotal role responsible for providing support in all aspects of the company’s financial operations. This position also involves working closely with the Controller to ensure compliance with accounting policies and reporting requirements. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receive, review, and verify vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness
  • Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving reports
  • Enter invoices into the accounting system for payment
  • Send out weekly disbursements for review and approval to Controller and President
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers, ACH, or check payments to vendors
  • Schedule payments to ensure timely and seek any discounts as appropriate
  • Reconcile payments to bank statements
  • Maintain accurate vendor records, including contact information, payment terms, and banking details
  • Address and resolve vendor inquiries regarding payments, discrepancies, or other issues
  • Negotiate payment terms and discounts with vendors
  • Reconcile AP, AR, WIP sub-ledgers to the general ledger at month-end and year-end
  • Accrue expenses as necessary and prepare related journal entries
  • Ensure accurate accounting records and monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to prepare and issue customer invoices based on sales orders, contracts, or other billing agreements
  • Ensure invoices are accurate, complete, and sent to customers on time
  • Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis through Insperity 
  • Review approved timecards and work with managers on any discrepancies
  • Upload payroll template to processing company and review payroll reports for accuracy before finalizing calculations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however direction may be provided to project coordinators, QA and engineering personnel, and to shop personnel.  Direction is provided in the spirit of organizing and prioritizing the tasks required to complete projects on time and within budget.  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or business administration
  • Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience. Broad administration experience managing all accounting functions and tasks
  • Experience working in a custom equipment fabrication or project-based business with percent complete/earned value accounting 
  • Experience with government contracts is preferred
  • Experience with CAS Compliance, FAR, DFAR and GSA preferred
  • Experience with ERP-based accounting system, Global Shop 

SKILLS and ABILITIES: 

  • Strong analytical and computational skills
  • Highly organized, critical thinker with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, OTHER:

  • CPA a plus

SALARY RANGE: $83,000 TO $120,000 PER YEAR
